TRADE: Blades bolster blue line by acquiring Bafaro
The Saskatoon Blades have acquired 2000 born right handed defenseman Seth Bafaro from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a 2019 3rd round draft pick and a 2020 5th round draft pick. Bafaro stands at 5’10.5″ tall and weighs in at 175lbs. Seth is described as gritty defender with quick feet and a high compete level. Last season Bafaro appeared in 28 games as a 16 year old with the Tri-City Americans, notching 1 assist and 14 penalty minutes in his rookie campaign. Originally from Revelstoke, B.C., Bafaro was selected in the 3rd round by the Americans, 49th overall in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
The acquisition of Bafaro fills the spot left open by graduating d-man Bryton Sayers, who is the only d-man not returning to the Blades blue line in the fall. Bafaro also adds depth and experience to Saskatoon’s group of returning 2000 born players with Chase Wouters and Michael Farren also coming off impressive rookie seasons. Blades GM Colin Priestner says Seth is a player the Blades have liked for quite some time.
“Seth is a highly competitive player who we have liked since his bantam draft season. He moves the puck well and fills a need at 2000 born d-men,” said Priestner, alluding to the Blades only having one signed defenseman from the 2000 born age group prior to the deal. Priestner went on to say Bafaro is a fun player to watch, and brings a lot of intensity to his game; fans will enjoy seeing him in a Blades uniform.
The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to welcome Seth and his family to our organization and the city of Saskatoon.
