NEWS: Blades add forward from SJHL
The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the addition of ’99 born forward Alec Zawatsky, who is expected to sign his standard player agreement today.
Zawatsky, originally from Yorkton, has appeared in 18 games this season in the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The first five were spent with the Cowichan Captials of the BCHL where he posted 2 goals and 2 assists before being traded to the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. There, Zawatsky has been steadily producing with 9 goals and 10 assists in 13 games.
“Alec is a late bloomer who really caught our eye at the SJHL showcase in September,” said Blades GM Colin Priestner. “We followed his progress closely since then and he put up almost 2 points a game in his next 10 games. He’s a skilled playmaker and we feel he can add skill and speed to our group. We’re excited Alec has chosen Saskatoon to pursue his hockey goals.”
Last season Alec played 52 games with the Cowichan Capitals, collecting 6 goals, 7 assists, and 56 penalty minutes.
Zawatsky will join the Blades for practice today in Lethbridge before travelling to Medicine Hat for Friday’s tilt with the Tigers, where it’s expected he will make his WHL debut wearing #38 for the Blades.
The next Blades home game is Friday, November 10th for Salute our Veterans & Forces Night versus the Swift Current Broncos. Click here for tickets or call 306.975.8844 to book your group night or experience package!
