Tonight – The Blades wrap up a 3 game road trip in Edmonton for their first meeting of the season with the Oil Kings. The Blades have gone 1-1 on the trip so far, and will look to bounce back after an ugly 7-2 loss last night in Medicine Hat. Cam Hebig had a goal and an assist in the loss last night and the power play went 1/2, otherwise there’s room for improvement across the board. It may only be November but this game is an important one; The Blades are just 1 point ahead of the Oil Kings in the hunt for a wild-card spot meaning a regulation loss would see Edmonton leap-frog over Saskatoon in the standings.

The opponent – Edmonton had the night off last night, but came up short in their last outing on Thursday losing 3-1 to the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds. The Oil Kings have lost 3 straight so expect them to try and take advantage of a weary Blades team who had a 6 hour overnight bus ride prior to tonight’s game.

For Saskatoon – Don’t let last night’s performance damage the confidence. The Blades were able to string together 3 wins and the confidence was evident throughout the roster. Saskatoon needs to forget about last night and puff their chest out as if this game belongs to them, as it should. On paper the Blades are the better team; effort will be the difference. Empty the tank, get the 2 points, and enjoy the ride home.

The lineup – Braylon Shmyr and Cam Hebig were reunited last night on a line, but the poor performance saw some changes throughout the game. There are a few players battling sickness, so there could be some “game-time decisions”. Brandon Machado will not be able to go tonight due to the flu, prompting the Blades to call up ’00 D Payton McIsaac from Sherwood Park, AJHL.

Injury report

F Logan Christensen – upper body, 3-5 weeks
F Caleb Fantillo – upper body, weekly
F Brad Goethals – upper body, day-to-day
