Tonight -The Saskatoon Blades open up a 3 game home stand closing out an 8 game season series against the Regina Pats. The Blades return home after winning 3 of 4 games on the road in the Central Division last week, while the Pats are winners of their last 3. The Blades lead the season series 5-2… Braylon Shmyr leads the offense with 13 points in 7 games vs Regina, Nolan Maier has 4 wins in 5 starts vs the Pats. For Regina, Sam Steel has 10 points in 5 meetings with Saskatoon, Matt Bradley is close behind with 9pts in 7 games.
The opponent – Regina has went 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 games and are riding a 3 game win streak. Two of those wins came against the top team in the league, the Moose Jaw Warriors. However, the Pats will be without 20-year-old forward Jesse Gabrielle who is serving the 2nd half of a 2-game suspension. Former Blades goaltender Ryan Kubic is sidelined with an injury so 17-year-old Max Paddock has made the last 6 starts for the Pats. Defenseman Liam Schioler was also slapped with a suspension as a result of Monday’s game against Prince Albert.
For Saskatoon – The Blades hold a 6-point lead over Prince Albert and now trail the Brandon Wheat Kings by just 2 points in the Eastern Conference. The Raiders do have a game in hand, and they’re in Red Deer tonight. Saskatoon has done well against Regina this season, but they definitely can’t afford to take them lightly.
