Tonight – The Saskatoon Blades wrap up a 4-game season series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes while trying to gain a couple crucial points in the standings. The Blades currently sit tied with Prince Albert for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 9 games remaining on the schedule for each team. For those planning on scoreboard watching, the Raiders are in Swift Current tonight.
The opponent – The Hurricanes have already clinched a playoff berth in the Central Division and they are beginning a 4 game road trip through the East Division tonight. Lethbridge underwent a major overhaul at the trade deadline and have a new look squad since their last visit to Saskatoon. Most notably is former Blades’ netminder and last year’s MVP Logan Flodell between the pipes. The Canes have also won their last 2 games and will look to get off to a good start on their road trip.
For Saskatoon – The Blades are coming in on a 2 game skid and should be hungrier than ever now sitting tied for that final playoff berth. Saskatoon should get a boost on the backend and power play as veteran d-man Dawson Davidson is expected to return after missing the last 3 games due to injury. Special teams will also be a factor as the Blades have had good numbers against the Canes this season, going 11/11 on the penalty kill and 4/13 on the power play.
