The Saskatoon Blades, Cree Way Gas and White Buffalo Youth Lodge have partnered by designing a program which is intended to provide aboriginal children between the ages of 8 and 12 the opportunity to receive mentoring in the areas of sport and life skills. The program this year provided 40 aboriginal children a 6-month mentoring program, in which the children received hockey skill instruction from the Blades coaching staff and players. In conjunction with the hockey skill sessions, the group then received life skill instruction in the areas of health and wellness, education, spirituality, and career guidance from experts in each field.
