Babcock/McLellan Coach Wings to Cup

Former Saskatoon Blades Mike Babcock (Head Coach) and Todd McLellan (Assistant Coach) led their Detroit Red Wings to the 2008 Stanley Cup Championship on Wednesday night.

Babcock spent time with the Blades organization during the 1980/81 season, appearing in 30 games with the club.  He would later return to the Western Hockey League as a Head Coach with the Moose Jaw Warriors (1991-93) and the Spokane Chiefs (1994-2000).

McLellan was a Saskatoon Blade from 1983-87, appearing in more than 175 games.  He is also a fromer WHL Head Coach from 1994-2000 with the Swift Current Broncos.
