Flatters, who was born in Calgary, AB, was drafted by the Red Deer Rebels in 2002 (8th round, 152nd overall) and also spent time with the Vancouver Giants before joining the Prince Albert Raiders last season. The 6’1”, 217 lbs. defenseman is expected to be in the Blades line-up Monday afternoon when the Blades host the Regina Pats.

“We believe that John will provide us tremendous energy on our blue line. John is a character player who demonstrates tremendous leadership qualities both on and off the ice”, commented Blades GM/Head Coach Lorne Molleken. “The Saskatoon Blades wish Dustin Cameron success in Prince Albert and thank him for his contribution to the Blades”.

The trade leaves the Blades with five overage players. The hockey club must have their 20 year old situation narrowed down to three players by the WHL deadline of October 11th.
