Blades To Announce Bob Woods As New GM and Head Coach

The Saskatoon Blades are expected to formally introduce Bob Woods as the team’s new general manager and head coach on Monday at the Credit Union Centre.  Woods has a long list of accomplishment’s as both a player, assistant coach and head coach at various levels of the sport, including most recently spending the past 5 seasons as an assistant coach in the NHL with both the Washington Capitals, and most recently, the Anaheim Ducks.

– Born January 24th, 1968 in LeRoy, Saskatchewan

– Bob and his wife Mary Sue have two sons, Brendan and Colin, both of whom play hockey

– Selected 201st overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils

– Played defence for two seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings, registering 156 points and 184 PIMs

– Had a 13-year professional career with stops in the IHL, ECHL, AHL and in Europe

– Inducted into the ECHL Hall Of Fame in 2012

– Holds the all-time ECHL record for career goals by a defenceman with 159

– Is the only person in Hershey Bears franchise history to have won the Calder Cup as a player, assistant coach and head coach

– Has 13 years of experience behind the bench as a coach, matching his time spent on the ice as a professional hockey player

– Compiled an AHL head-coaching record of 100-57-15 in two seasons with Hershey from 2007-2009
