Darren Dietz Named October Player Of The Month

The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce that defenceman and alternate captain Darren Dietz has been named as the team’s Heinrichs Jewellery Player Of The Month for October.

The Montreal Canadiens prospect had a fantastic October for the Saskatoon Blades, posting 5 goals and 9 points to go along with 12 penalty minutes in 11 games during the month.  October was highlighted by a 4-point performance for Dietz against his hometown Medicine Hat Tigers on the 14th.

Dietz leads the Saskatoon Blades blueline in scoring so far in 2012-13, registering 6 goals and 10 points overall.  He also leads the Blades in powerplay goals, scoring all 6 of his markers with the man-advantage this season.

Dietz took the title as October Player Of The Month despite facing a stiff challenge from veteran forward Josh Nicholls.  The 20 year old Nicholls posted 9 goals and 13 points in the month, including 4 two-goal games.

Dietz will be presented with a watch from Heinrichs Jewellers prior to the team’s next home game on November 9th.
