Fiala signs pro deal in the ECHL


Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are proud to announce 2017-18 team captain, Evan Fiala, has signed a standard professional contract with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.¬†The Stingrays are an affiliate with the NHL’s Washington Capitals.

Fiala recently finished his junior hockey career in the Western Hockey League with the Saskatoon Blades. In 71 contests as the Blades captain during the 2017-18 season, Fiala posted a career high 20 points and finished second in the league with 151 penalty minutes.

Throughout his career, Fiala appeared in 266 games split between the Saskatoon Blades and Spokane Chiefs over parts of five seasons. Evan’s career stats¬†include 71 points, 500 penalty minutes, and a +21 rating.

Fiala is expected to make his professional debut wearing jersey #16 with South Carolina tonight as the Stingrays visit the Orlando Solar Bears.
