Tonight – the Saskatoon Blades hit the reset button and get ready for another rivalry bout against the Regina Pats. The Blades (57pts) have a chance to create some distance from Prince Albert (55pts) in the standings… the Raiders host Swift Current today. This is the 7th meeting between the Blades and Pats and there won’t be any love lost in this one. The Blades lead the season series 4-2 but it was the Pats who won the last meeting by a score of 7-3 back on Jan. 24th. A win for Saskatoon would also match their win total of 28 from last season.

The opponent – The Pats, like the Blades, are also playing their 3rd game in as many nights. They’re coming off a 4-2 win at home last night over Lethbridge. Regina sits 2 points behind the Brandon Wheat Kings for 3rd place in the East Division. Regina has also won 4 of their last 5 games.

For Saskatoon – The Blades have had their way with Regina this season, but the new look Pats after the trade deadline are a different animal. Saskatoon has done a good job of being pesky against Regina this season and they’ll likely need to continue that today without crossing the line. Regina has too many offensive weapons like Sam Steel and Cam Hebig to let them loose on the power play. Goaltending will play a big part and the Blades certainly feel the have the advantage, but rather than rely on their own goalie, the Blades need to make life difficult for the guy at the other end while protecting their own house.

The lineup – Kirby Dach left last night’s game in the 1st period and did not return after being hit from behind, a play that drew a 5 minute CFB major. Dach is listed as day-to-day so there will likely be another forward drawing into the lineup tonight… one of Alec Zawatsky or Tyler Lees who sat out last night. The defence will likely stay the same and both goalies are ready to go.

Injury report:

F Kirby Dach – upper body, day-to-day
D Seth Bafaro – lower body, day-to-day
