Tonight…

The Saskatoon Blades will visit Cranbrook for the final time in history, taking on the Kootenay ICE for game 2 of a 3-game trip through the Central Division. The Blades enter tonight on a 5-game win streak, and an unbeaten streak of 11 (9-0-2-0) which is the longest active streak in the WHL. Saskatoon remains 10 points ahead of Moose Jaw in the East Division; the Warriors have 3 games in hand. The magic number for the Blades to clinch a playoff spot is 7… any points gained by Saskatoon or lost by Brandon count towards the 7. Brandon opens a home & home series with the Raiders tonight in Prince Albert.

The last game…

Max Gerlach (34,35)had 2 goals and Dawson Davidson had 3A in a 6-3 win on Wednesday in Medicine Hat. Chase Wouters (13) also had a 3-point night (1G-2A) while Ryan Hughes (21), Eric Florchuk (18), and Tristen Robins (8) also scored. Nolan Maier made 25 saves in his 29th win of the year.

Head to head…

Tonight is game 3 of a 4-game season series and will serve as a tiebreaker as each team has 1 win; the road team has won both times. The Blades and ICE haven’t played since November when they met twice on the 1st and 10th …Gary Haden leads the Blades with a pair of goals, Peyton Krebs leads the ICE with 1G-2A.

Who’s hot…

Dawson Davidson has the longest active point streak running in the WHL with 24 points in 14 games. Davidson has also registered multiple points in each of his last 4 games. Max Gerlach is coming off a 2-goal night on Wednesday, is riding a 12-game point streak, and has 7 points in his last 3 games. Chase Wouters has 5 points in his last 2 games, and 9pts in his last 7GP.
