Wouters, Dach, & McIsaac

Monday, June 5th, 2017 – It was a beautiful weekend on the prairies to kick off the month of June, perfect for enjoying some time outdoors and soaking up the sun. Several members of the Blades did just that while competing in CBC’s annual “Play On” road hockey tournament in Edmonton. Chase Wouters made the trip from Lloydminster to Alberta’s capital joining two other Blades’ young guns Kirby Dach and Payton McIsaac to form the Halifax Highlanders. The boys went undefeated to take home the U17 Championship. Fellow Edmontonian Blades Josh Paterson and Arjun Atwal were in the U18 division, coming up short in the final game to take 2nd Place.

The Early Bird deadline for 2017-18 Season Tickets has passed by, but another important date is right around the corner. June 15th is seat release day. Season ticket holders from last season must put a minimum $50 deposit down to keep their seat, as all unclaimed seats will be made available to the public on June 16th.

And when renewing your season tickets, don’t forget about the Blades referral program. Anyone who purchases new season tickets and drops your name gets you a $50 discount on your season seats!

Whether you’re stopping in or shopping online, almost all merchandise is 50% OFF! Check it out at the Frozen Pond.

*for the months of June & July, the Blades office will be closed on Fridays*

The Blades are in search of several new billet families for the upcoming hockey season. For more info or to apply, click here.

Despite the warm weather and summer vibes floating around, June is a busy month in the hockey world. We’re in the midst of the Stanley Cup Finals, the NHL Draft is now just weeks away, and the NHL Combine wrapped up over the weekend in Buffalo, N.Y.

As for the Blades, d-man Mark Rubinchik and centre Josh Paterson will be keeping an eye on the upcoming draft taking place in Chicago on June 23rd & 24th. Rubinchik was ranked 140th among North American skaters while Paterson was slotted at 205th on the NHL Central Scouting final rankings.

The NHL Awards are set for June 21st in Las Vegas, where the NHL also plans to unveil the new look Adidas jerseys of all 31 teams. Speaking of new jerseys, word on the street is the Blades will be donning a new “Pacman” inspired 3rd jersey for next season… stay tuned on that one.

There may not be any Blades alumni playing in the cup final this year, but we do know who Blades season ticket holder and 2016 Fan of the Year Molly & her parents will be rooting for!

The Saskatoon Blades are also looking for a couple new people to join our team for the upcoming season. We’re in search of ambitious individuals who are interested in social media and videography to join us as media interns for the 2017-18 season. Know someone who might be interested?
