Mark Rubinchik and Team Russia have advanced to the semi-finals at the World Under 18 Championships in Slovakia. The Russians needed overtime to knock out the host Slovakians on Thursday by a score of 3-2.

Despite being held off the scoresheet, Rubinchik is still in 2nd for points by a defenseman at the tournament with 6 points in 5 games.

The Blades blue-liner will now have a chance at redemption after winning a Silver medal last year at the Wolrd U17’s as Russia will now face the defending champions, Finland on Saturday in the semi-final.

In the other quarter-final on Thursday Team Canada was eliminated from the tournament after falling 7-3 to Sweden.
