TRADE: Blades acquire Luding from Seattle

Seattle Thunderbirds/Brian Liesse

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the acquisition of 19-year-old goaltender Dorrin Luding from the Seattle Thunderbirds. In exchange, the Blades have sent the Thunderbirds a conditional 7th round bantam draft pick in 2020.

Originally from Prince George, British Columbia, Luding will be entering his second full season in the Western Hockey League. Last year, Luding split 28 games between the Everett Silvertips and Seattle Thunderbirds going 9-15-1-0 in the process. Standing at 6’0 and 200lbs, Luding posted a .884SV% and 3.78 GAA last season along with one shutout.

“We’re excited to add Dorrin to our group,” said Blades Associate General Manager Steve Hildebrand. “He took some big strides last season and developed into a Western Hockey League goaltender, he knows what it takes to play in this league so we expect him to come in and compete for a spot with our group.”

Luding has played a total of 30 career regular season games in the WHL and was originally drafted by the Saskatoon Blades in 2014.
