Blades to Battle Warriros Tonight in Saskatoon

One night after falling to the Warriors 3-2 in a shootout, the Saskatoon Blades and their provincial foes from Moose Jaw will meet once again tonight in Saskatoon at 7:05 at Credit Union Centre.

The Blades will make two line-up changes for tonight’s contest.  Inserted into the line-up will be goaltenders Steven Stanford (1990) and Adam Todd (1994).  Stanford and Todd will look to repeat the stellar performances of teammates Adam Iwan and Tyler Oswald who combined to turn aside 33 of 35 Warrior shots last night.  Adam Todd has already appeared in 2 pre-season contest having surrendered only one goal in 80 minutes of play (0.75 GAA) and posting a save percentage of 96.9%.  Tonight’s game will be the first time Stanford will dress this pre-season.  Last season, Stanford posted an impressive 28-7-3-1 record to go along with a 2.74 GAA and 90.0% save percentage.

Leading the way offensively for the Blades in the pre-season is #25 Alex Elliott (2G 1A) and #23 Lukas Sutter (1G 2A) who have each collected 3 points in the 3 games the Blades have played thus far. For the Warriors, 16 year old Morgan Reilly (2nd overall selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft) and Joey Kornelsen also have picked up 3 points apiece through 4 pre-season games played for Moose Jaw.

While officially the Blades still have 34 players still on their pre-season roster, they will be forced to dress only 19 players for tonight’s game.  With 10 Blades off attending NHL training camps, 2 more on the sidelines nursing injuries, and the ability only to dress 3 twenty year old players per game; the inclusion of Stanford into tonight’s line-up results in Jeremy Boyer (1990) being removed from the line-up, leaving the Blades short one player on tonight’s roster.

Tonight’s game WILL NOT BE carried on the radio, so the Saskatoon Blades are encouraging fans to come out and witness Blades pre-season action at Credit Union Centre.  Tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster locations for $10 for adults and $5 for youth.

Tonight’s line-ups can be seen listed below.  Make sure to check back to tonight following the game for a complete recap.
