Blades trade Nogier, Adamson to Rebels
The Saskatoon Blades have announced a block buster trade with the Red Deer Rebels: Assistant Captain Nelson Nogier and Austin Adamson are going to Red Deer in exchange for 17 year old winger Mason McCarty, a first round draft choice and a second round draft choice. The first round pick is in 2016 while the second rounder is in 2015.
“This is a tough trade to make but in the big picture this makes all the sense in the world for both Nelson and our team,” says Blades GM and Coach Bob Woods. “Nelson gets the opportunity to play some very meaningful games: playoff games this season and the Memorial Cup next season. It also helps us in our re-build – we gain a younger, skilled forward and two high draft picks. Obviously, the Rebels thinks very highly of Nelson and Austin, as do we.”
McCarty has 1 goal, 2 assists and 7 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Rebels over this season and last season. The native of Blackie, Alberta, racked up 22 goals, 20 assists and 58 penalty minutes in 32 games this season with the UFA Bisons of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.
The Saskatoon born Nogier played in 128 games with the Blades over the past four seasons, notching 2 goals, 16 assists and 75 penalty minutes. Austin Adamson, who hails from Vancouver, scored 5 goals and 5 assists in 84 games with the Blades over the last two seasons.
The Blades thank Nelson and Austin for all they did for the organization and wish them the very best with the Rebels. The Blades also want to extend a warm welcome to Mason McCarty to our organization and the city of Saskatoon.
