Blades make pit stop while on the road in Alberta

Claresholm, AB – While in the midst of a four game road trip through the Central Division, the Saskatoon Blades were in need of some ice for practice on their off day on Saturday. The search for an ice surface turned into a once in a lifetime experience not only for the youth in the small town of Claresholm, but also for the Blades players.

Claresholm Minor Hockey Association was having a skills competition on Saturday afternoon with all of their local teams and kindly lent out some ice time for the Blades to get a practice in. In return, the Blades suited up in their blue pacman uniforms and joined in the festivities. Kids had the chance to go one-on-one in the shootout with Blades players and goalies, and try their luck in the hardest shot, shooting accuracy, and other contests.

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a pizza party in the lobby before the Blades loaded up on the bus and made their way to Calgary for Sunday’s game against the Hitmen.

The Saskatoon Blades would like to thank the Town of Claresholm, Claresholm Minor Hockey, and everyone who came out for a memorable experience! Also a special thanks to Claresholm resident and Blades alumnus Damon Kustra for organizing.
