Job Summary:

The Saskatoon Blades are looking for a quality player to add to their business team. If you’re a talented team player who likes to have fun while achieving goals, consider this position in the fast-paced world of sports entertainment. The primary function of the role is to foster relations with the Blades partners in business, community and charity.

This person meets with partners and potential clients, learning about their goals and creating proposals to help achieve objectives. Proposals include a wide range of properties, such as in-game activities, digital media content and initiatives in the community. Once agreements are in place, the focus of the position expands to include effective execution and working to ensure all partners receive exceptional experiences.

Salary and commission are commensurate with ability, results and experience. The Blades also offer a full benefits package.

Job Title:                 Saskatoon Blades Ice Crew

Department:            Business Operations

Reporting:               Manager of Game Day Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic and athletic individuals for the Saskatoon Blades Ice Crew. As a valuable member of our Game Presentation team, you will be responsible for clearing the ice during the timeouts of Blades home games and act as an ambassador at Saskatoon Blades games (promotions, features) and events (both internal and external). This position is physically demanding and requires candidates to possess strong skating abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Removing snow build up on the ice surface during television timeouts
  • Participate in various promotions and activities
  • Act as an ambassador of the Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club both at home games and events
  • Execute and tear down all related equipment for ice clearing (shovels, buckets, etc.) in addition to Game Presentation items (equipment, promotional items, etc.)
  • Enthusiastically give away prizes throughout the game
  • Communicate positively and professionally with SaskTel Centre and Saskatoon Blades staff
  • Adhere to all Saskatoon Blades service standards and policies including working in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Fraternization Policy

REQUIREMENTS

Must be flexible to work weekday shifts as early as 5:00 pm, as well as weekends and/or holidays both day or evening shifts staying until the end of the games

  • Strong skating ability
  • Be athletic and physically fit
  • Knowledge of and affinity for the current Blades team and its recent history an asset
  • Knowledge of the game of hockey is an asset
  • Acting and performing experience is an asset
  • Responsible for your own hair, makeup, and hockey skates
  • Enthusiastic team player who is comfortable interacting with fans of all ages
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work with enthusiasm and professionalism at all times

Saskatoon Blades Media Intern – Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club (Saskatoon, SK)

Job Title:                 Saskatoon Blades Media Intern

Department:            Media & Communications

Reporting:               Manager of Communications

Job Summary:

This position has various roles which will be assigned based on skills and comfort level including:

  • filming & editing video – pre & post game player & coach interviews, special features, game highlights, press conferences, etc.
  • assisting with social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram

  • assisting with graphic design for promotional products
  • acting as team liaison with local media

Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:

  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced work environment

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Pro an asset but not required
  • Experience with video camera an asset but not required (it’s an internship, we’ll train you!)

This is an internship with great opportunity to break into both the business of sports and local media within Saskatoon. The selected individual(s) will be given responsibilities and tasks based on ambition and eagerness to learn. There is also opportunity to gain on camera and hosting experience if desired.

This is an unpaid position, but depending on the applicant a college credit can be earned if applicable to your course.

Saskatoon Blades Game Day Intern – Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club (Saskatoon, SK)

Job Title:                 Saskatoon Blades Intern

Job Summary 

Saskatoon Blades Interns will be involved in the development and execution of the Saskatoon Blades in-game and game day experiences. The intern will assist the Manager of Game Day Operations by assisting in the coordination of in-game elements, supporting live game production, acting as support for the promotions team, mascot and in-arena host, carrying out activities such as the national anthem(s), puck drop or special ceremonies, and supporting the production of the game as a whole.

Interns play a huge role in our business operations and, in particular, the execution of the game day production, a time when all the work we put in at the office comes to fruition in our arena.  Our goal first and foremost is to provide our fans a terrific game day experience and we count on our interns to help make game nights memorable.  In addition to game nights, there are opportunities to get involved with all aspects of the sports business world, including game day production, sponsorship, ticketing and merchandise. Under our program, interns have the opportunity to work in all of these programs or drill down into one specific area. No matter what the choice, there will be hands-on work with a variety of projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Prepare game day paperwork and deliver to the appropriate recipients by a specific deadline prior to the game.

• Attend pre-game meetings with the Saskatoon Blades staff.

• Assist Promotions Team in their game day duties.

• Provide assistance for in-game production elements such as pre-game ceremony, puck drop, national anthem(s), giveaways, in-arena host hits, on-ice games, etc.

• Act as supplementary support for the Manager of Game Operations.

• Coordinate with Game Operations/Community Events, Corporate Sales/Sponsorship, and Ticket Sales departments.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:
