Calgary, Alta – The second day of the 2017 WHL Cup was underway at Winsport Arena in Calgary yesterday with 6 of the 7 Blades’ U16 prospects invited to the tournament again seeing action representing their provinces. British Columbia goaltender Koen MacInnes was the only Blade prospect not to play on day two, serving as B.C’s backup for the day after starting in net yesterday.

Alberta continued their dominant form as their productive offence hit British Columbia like a freight train, downing the West Coasters 6-2. In the Battle of the Prairies, Manitoba and Saskatchewan duked it out with Saskatchewan emerging victorious, edging Manitoba 4-3.

From the Blades, Kyle Crnkovic of Alberta turned in one of the more notable performances of the day. After being held to just 1 assist in his team’s 8-3 drubbing of Saskatchewan, Crnkovic excelled in the 6-2 party against British Columbia and turned in a 4 point performance (1G, 3A). Crnkovic now leads all skaters in the tournament in points with 5 in two games played.

On the other side of the ice was another Blades’ prospect,  Kalen Szeto, who got his first goal of the tournament by scoring 1 of British Columbia’s 2 goals against the powerhouse Alberta.

In the other match of the day, Saskatchewan defender Alex Ozar collected another assist while playing against Manitoba. Ozar now leads his team in scoring with 4 points from two games played and is tied for second in points of all skaters at the tournament.
