Blades Acquire Chase Clayton From Calgary

The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce that they have acquired forward Chase Clayton from the Calgary Hitmen.

In exchange for the 1994-born centre from Abbotsford, BC, the Blades have sent a conditional 5th round selection in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft to Calgary.

Clayton is currently in his 4th WHL season, having appeared in 183 career regular season games, all of which have been with the Hitmen.  This season the left-handed centre has posted one goal and 5 points to go along with a +3 rating in 11 games.

“We’re pleased to add a player like Chase Clayton to our lineup,” said Saskatoon Blades general manager Lorne Molleken.  “Chase is a player that can play in all situations and one that we feel will be a good fit in our lineup due to his experience in the Western Hockey League.”

In his career, Clayton has posted 21 goals, 41 assists, 62 points and 116 PIMs in 183 regular season games.  He’s added another 5 points in 22 career postseason games.

Clayton is a former 1st round selection in the WHL Bantam Draft, being taken 22nd overall in 2009 by the Hitmen.  To go along with his extensive WHL experience, Clayton also played with Team Pacific during the 2010-11 Under-17 World Hockey Championships, taking home a bronze medal.

The Blades would like to welcome Chase Clayton and his family to the organization.
