Blades Acquire Forward From Victoria

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades added some depth up front Sunday, acquiring the rights to ’99 F Arjun Atwal from the Victoria Royals in exchange for a 2019 6th round pick (from Everett via Dorrin Luding trade). The trade also included the Blades receiving a conditional draft pick for the rights to unsigned 2000 born forward, K’Andre Miller. Miller currently plays for the USNTDP in the USHL and is committed to the University of Wisconsin.

Arjun Atwal

Originally from Edmonton, Atwal has been playing with the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League this season. In 33 games Atwal has 14 goals and 17 assists with 23 PIM. Atwal leads all 99 born players in the AJHL in scoring, and led the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League in scoring last season with 53 points in 34 games.

“With our recent run of injuries we needed to add a forward and Arjun has had an excellent last two seasons of development. He will add some skill to our lineup and his potential upside is exciting.” said Blades General Manager Colin Priestner.

Atwal will be wearing #11 for Saskatoon, and is expected to make his debut this afternoon against the Swift Current Broncos.
