SASKATOON, SK– The Saskatoon Blades are excited to announce they have signed prospect, Hudson Kibblewhite, to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
“We feel fortunate to sign Hudson today, just as we felt fortunate he was still available to us with our 2nd pick in the draft last month,” says Blades director of scouting, Dan Tencer. “He’s a high character player who shows up in big moments and plays the game the right way. His habits, on and off ice, are excellent and his coach this past year – Jarome Iginla – spoke extremely highly of him in our pre-draft conversation. We’re certain that Hudson is going to be a big part of our future up front and are very happy to have him signed on officially today.”
The Blades selected Kibblewhite 35th overall in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, May 19th.
The Vernon, BC product spent this past season with the RHA Kelonwa U15 Prep and found the scoresheet on numerous occasions. In 30 games with the team, Kibblewhite notched 19 goals and 42 assist, finishing first on his team in scoring and eighth in the league. The 2007-born right-shot stands at 5’11” and 143lbs.
Hudson is committed to the RHA Kelowna U18 for the upcoming season and is expected to attend his first Western Hockey League camp with the Blades this coming Fall.
The Saskatoon Blades would like to welcome Hudson and the Kibblewhite Family into the organization, and look forward to continuing his development under the watchful eye of Brennan Sonne’s coaching staff.
Details on the 2022-23 training camp will be released at a later date.
