The Saskatoon Blades (45-14-4-1) look to play spoiler against the Brandon Wheat Kings (26-31-8-0) Saturday at SaskTel Centre.
The visitors are fighting tooth and nail for a postseason spot, currently two points back of the final spot with 60 points. Saskatoon on the other hand is feeling good after a 3-2 victory vs the Swift Current Broncos Wednesday night at InnovationPlex. The decision marked the Blades eighth consecutive road win and bumped them up to 95 points with four games remaining. The Blades are locked at third place in the Eastern Conference and hope to stay hot as they await who their first-round opponent will be.
Tonight’s the final regular season encounter between the two East Division teams. Saskatoon has won all five previous meetings and look for a series sweep. The last victory came Feb. 5th on home ice during their “Kids Takeover” game which say former Wheat King Jake Chiasson pot the game winner in a 4-2.
Who to Watch
20-year-old defenceman Aidan De La Gorgendiere scored his 12th goal of the season vs the Broncos Wednesday. The 6-foot-1 Langley, BC. native is averaging a point-per game in his final WHL season with 62 in as many outings. De La Gorgendiere is four points away from claiming sole possession of tenth for points by a defenceman in Blades’ history currently at 152 in 245 games.
They don't ask how, they ask how many.
