Girls Rock! Night presented by Dance Street set for Jan. 21

Two of Canada’s finest ladies will be on hand at SaskTel Centre for Girls Rock Night, presented by Dance Street on Friday, January 21st.

Team Canada defenceman Brigette Lacquette and Paralympic medalist Keely Shaw will headline the Blades contest against the Medicine Hat Tigers, with doors opening at 6:00pm to SaskTel Centre. The two ladies are headlining a pregame speaking engagement designed for all ages, sharing their stories of success and overcoming adversity which will surely inspire young girls in our community.

For groups signed up for the speaking event, doors will open at 5:00pm with the program beginning at 5:15pm. Teams & groups are invited to enter through the main doors of Sasktel Centre and find a seat in Sections G & F to take in the presentation.

Not only is Lacquette set to join Team Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics next month, she’s also the first Indigenous women to scout for a National Hockey League team (Chicago). The Dauphin, MB product helped guide Canada to a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and is gunning for gold this time around.

Midale, SK’s Shaw has made a meteoric rise in the world of para-cycling over the last several years, and reached her first Olympic podium in capturing a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games. The 27-year-old took up para-cycling in 2016, seven years after a horseriding accident left her with partial paralysis on her left side.

We’re also thrilled to bring Saskatoon Hilltops defensive-back Emmarae Dale into SaskTel Centre as one of our special guests. The hometown product made history in 2021 after lacing up with the Hilltops, becoming the first female to ever play in the Canadian Junior Football League.

In partnership with Dance Street, Girls Rock Night has held a sentimental place in the Blades organization. Numerous members of Team Canada’s women’s hockey team have made the trip in years prior, including Hayley Wickenheiser, helping grow the game and spark inspiration from a grassroots level.

If you or someone you know would like to take part in the pregame speaking engagement, please reach out to Jocelyn at for ways to get involved.
