WEEKEND PREVIEW | Blades preparing for back-to-back theme nights

An eventful weekend is coming up at SaskTel Centre.

The Saskatoon Blades are welcoming three inspirational women into the building on Friday, before showing off a colourful theme jersey in collaboration with Pride Saskatoon on Saturday. Each prestigious lady will be on hand for a special presentation ahead of the game, open to all fans who would like to attend. Please reach out to Jocelyn at jocelyn@saskrush.com if you’d like more information.

Olympic ice hockey silver medalist Brigette Lacquette is headlining “Girls Rock! Night” to kick off the busy two-game weekend, when the Medicine Hat Tigers roll into town.

A night to inspire women of all ages, Lacquette has become a popular figure amongst women and Indigenous athletes. She was the first First Nations player to hit the ice for Team Canada, and is also the first indigenous woman to scout for an NHL team (Chicago Blackhawks).

Paralympic medalist Keely Shaw will also headline the night. The Midale, SK product reached her first Olympic podium at the 2020 Tokyo Games, capturing a bronze medal in para-cycling.

Saskatoon Hilltops defensive-back, Emmarae Dale, will also be in attendance. She became the first-ever woman to dress in the Canadian Junior Football League in 2021.

All three ladies will be hosting a pregame speaking engagement designed for women of all ages, telling their stories of overcoming adversity and the details of their unique journeys to inspire young girls.

We also spoke to some of our own players to hear their thoughts on hosting the inspirational night, and hear who are the most important females in their lives.

After battling the Tigers, we’re partnering with local inclusion groups and organizations to bring you Pride Night as we turn our attention to the CHL’s number one team, the Winnipeg ICE.

Take in the action while the Blades support the LGBTQ+ community by sporting special themed jerseys, which will be available for auction online following the game. Stay tuned for more details on how you can get your hands on your very own game-worn threads.

That’s two theme games in two nights, and we want to give YOU the chance to save some money and take in all the action. We’re offering two adult tickets for just $30 for a limited time!
