The Blades have now reached the midway point on their BC road trip – the third of five games, this time against Victoria. After dropping the first two to Kamloops and Kelowna, the Bridge City Bunch are hoping to turn the tide on the island.
“When we play sixty minutes of solid hockey, it’s a positive result”, said Ryan Coghlan. “We need to have a full game, no more forty or fifty minute games, we need to work hard, earn a win here in Victoria”.
“We need to match their work ethic”, added Head Coach Bob Woods. “A team like Victoria, they’re high energy, and if we’re not ready right off the bat, we’ll get in a hole, get in trouble, and we don’t want that”.
Woods doesn’t have to worry about Coghlan being ready to play – he hails from nearby Nanaimo, and will be playing in front of family and friends.
“I’m real excited. It’ll be nice to see everyone, but I am here for one reason and one reason only, and that’s to play hockey. I want to win. It’s great that they’re here to support me, but I’m focused on the game”.
The Blades will continue their BC road trip with a game in Vancouver, and finish things up in Prince George.
