After a long, tough 14 hour bus ride, the Blades made it to Kamloops, the first stop on their five game BC road trip. First up for Saskatoon – a tough Blazers team.
“We got in a good skate yesterday and a good one this morning” said Nick Zajac at pre-game skate. “That huge road trip, it’s not easy, but we’re ready to go”.
Zajac says the Blades have been clicking as of late – taking three of four points from the Brandon Wheat Kings and playing the Moose Jaw Warriors tough twice would back that up.
“We’re playing well lately, and a road trip like this, it’s good, a lot of team building. We just need to keep working hard, and good things should happen”.
“We’re pretty hungry for a win” added teammate Ryan Coghlan. “We want to start the trip off right, get a big win, fire us up”.
It’s been a tough year for the Blades, who are currently last in the Easten Conference. Still, the team believes things are picking up – and some wins on this trip would definitely help.
“We’re making positive strides for sure” said Coghlan. “We have a fire during the games and practice. Guys are into it, they believe, Bob thinks we’re on the up, it’s good”.
“Our guys are working hard here” added Coach Bob Woods. “If we can start cutting out those little mistakes, we give ourselves a chance to win”.
The Blades will continue their BC road trip with a game in Kelowna on Wednesday.
